Shocking, the lines were pretty short (Wednesday before Thanksgiving). The Kirkland pumpkin cheesecake sample was awesome. Love the prices, especially the sale prices.
We now shop at the Charlottesville location since it’s the same distance from our home as this one.
This location is the only one around, and maybe it's the actual area it's in but the selection is not the greatest quality. The Costcos that I'm used to have huge selections of *organic* Kirkland products, and while this one does have some, the majority are non-organic. Even in the seafood selection it's tough to find wild-caught fish here.
We shop at Costco every two weeks. We spend close to $200 every trip to feed our (large) family. We live an hour away from this (or any) Costco location, but the quality/price is worth it. There are 3 adults in our household who share the responsibility of grocery shopping.
Short Pump, Costco's Bakery is the BEST!!! We buy from there regularly. If you are a chocolate love try the All America. I love their cheese cake and muffins! The rest of the store is good too.
One pro for this location that I haven't found elsewhere is that if you come anytime other than the weekend, it's empty! No crowds, you can take your time browsing, and parking is actually possible!
A great place to shop, especially for bulk items or tools. They have specials and unpublished deals from time to time that can be a real savings. During meal times and on weekends you can eat your way through the store with all the samples.
Costco in general, and this location in particular, will NOT consider issuing a third membership card on any of their membership levels. They are also EXTREMELY inflexible with the membership policy. We found this out the hard way, when a cart full of groceries had to be abandoned & a return trip had to be made the following day. In order to accommodate all members of our family, we call Costco corporate & have them change the “secondary member” on the account every couple of weeks, depending on who is doing the grocery shopping. This is exhausting, inconvenient, and a waste of time. It’s so disappointing, because I know that many multi-generational families benefit from buying in bulk at warehouse stores like Costco.
