The value dollars are spent at Walmart. The higher end product is better at Kroger than Publix
They did give our son a balloon, which he loved, and the people are nice and very helpful (maybe overly so sometimes...).
Richmond Virginia is a cost-conscious city and extremely conservative.
My original post was on 10/20/17, and at the time of my visit to Publix, I was looking for a specific frozen item that the store did not carry. I talked to the area manager as I was searching for the product, and he took my name, phone number and the name of the product I was looking for. He said that he would order it and call me when he had more info. As of 11/29, I have not heard from Publix, so I'm guessing that my request was lost and there will be no follow up.
The deli was very slow and did not have any salty ham, which was disappointing and added over 15 minutes to our shopping trip. The wine selection is subpar.
However, we found three separate types of produce with mold: grapes, green beans, and strawberries. That is unacceptable and doesn't speak well for the quality or freshness of their products. The prices are also quite high on many things. The store packaged strawberries without mold were $14.
The store was bright & clean - which isn't a surprise since the store us brand new. Prices were a little high on the produce I looked at. There is a small selection of Ukrops products. The staff was friendly & helpful.
The store is well organized, the shelves are immaculately in order, and I like that there's no store card to sign up for to get deals. There were samples all around and everything was well stocked.
I almost want to give Publix 2 stars, but I upped it to 3 out of generosity since this is opening weekend. There are way too many employees milling around, though. Do we really need three people handing out carts at the entrance?
I can in here and there was a bed. Nothing else. A dog came out with a copy of the little mermaid. We watched it together. I don't know if this is an actual store. The dog was nice. I took him home and named him pete.
Publix is extremely overpriced. Employeeswere not necessarily courteous to the Shopper's. Smart Shoppers will compare prices to Kroger. This is the third Publix in the Richmond area I have shopped. I predict they don't last as long as Martin's.
Love my Publix! However, I'm naturally suspicious of all their employees, they all keep asking if I need any help or if there's anything they can do for me. What's up with that? Lol!
